When people come to work for us, they like to stay. Most of our team have been with us for at least five years, a couple of the boys joined us straight from school, and one team member has been with us since we started the business back in 2013.

When you work as closely as we do, it’s important that you know your workmates are there for you and value the same things you do. In our case, it’s a dedication to doing the very best possible job and having an enjoyable time together doing it.

We want to keep on winning awards as New Zealand’s best bricklayers, so we invest in our team to help them upskill and take on challenges that extend and develop their skills. ‘The best boss I’ve ever had’

Our team philosophy makes Richie’s Brick and Block a great place to work. In fact, Richie has been told by team members he’s the best boss around. Maybe, apart from being able to work on the best projects, it’s because it’s not all about work. We do regular team activities and nights out. A recent team event was an overnight fishing expedition at Kaikōura. Doing things outside of work helps us get to know each other better and strengthens our family culture.

Growing the family

Building a great family culture has also meant we’ve built a great reputation in the building and property development industry. So that means we’re always busy with new projects.
